We are hoping to have the Breakfast at the Cross Keys, Thropton. It will be in the morning of 26th June. Dave promises good weather. The price for a full English Breakfast (with vegetarian option) is yet to be finalised but we do need a reasonable idea of numbers. So let me know asap if you intend to go (and how many) and we’ll get things firmed up!

To celebrate the ‘it’s nearly the longest day’, we’ll have a ride in to Birtley Golf Club on Monday 20th June. So fettle your mighty steed and come along at about 7.30 - 8.00’ish. Remember that the Golf Club will be open to members as well so don’t park in any of the reserved bays. Hope to see you there.

Come one, come all. There are bargains to be had and valuable items to sell. So bring along a handful of dosh and all your motorcycle related stuff to the White Elephant Sale at the Golf Club on Monday 23rd May starting at 8.15 p.m. As always, please don’t bring along Catherine Cookson novels or bric-a-brac. Vaguely motorcycle related please! Very useful for getting Christmas presents for your beloved!! 10% goes to club funds

Chums, As we move rapidly towards the better weather and getting our mighty steeds back on the road, what better way to prepare than to come along and join in another chat with John Young? John has visited us before and regaled us with tales of astonishing trips all over the globe and bikes he has built. This time he will be talking about Son of Sam, a famous proddy racer. I have personally already learned some new. Slippery Sam (another famous proddy racer) was based on a T150 whereas SoS is based on a T160. So there you go. As well as John coming to visit us, Son of Sam will also be visiting us. Peter Bates has been entrusted with Getting SoS into the club room so it could well end up coming through the window. As ever, John will be collecting for his favourite charity via a collections bucket and we will run a raffle (with fab prizes) in support of this. We aim to start at 8.00 p.m. so be there in plenty of time as demand for seats is bound to be high. See you there P.S. This message has been checked by my own fair hand for accuracy and grammar. You know what that means….

In exciting new developments for the New Year and associated riding season, we (as in Aidan) are going to have a Section WhatsApp group. It will be used to publicise impromptu runs out (as in ‘ it is a nice day, anyone fancy a tootle about?’), requests for technical help (such as ‘I have developed a sudden linking for Villiers engines, how do I get over it?’) and things of general interest ( the newly formed group has a picture of Shag’s 5 valve vee twin). If you fancy joining, send your name to Aidan along with your mobile number. He says that the wearing of shorts in winter is not mandatory….. Pete P.S Out technical department (run by our Cultural Attaché) reminds me to say that you will need to have WhatsApp on your phone. Obvs!!! P.P.S Please be nice to each other and nothing offensive.

This is a one off event, round about the usual date of the Bob Rawlings Run (slightly changed to avoid a clash with another local event), using a route originally devised for the 2020 Rookhope Ryde! It starts at 10.00 a.m. from the Wylam Riverside Car Park, heads to Alston for lunch then wends it’s way back to Wylam. Date is Sunday 12th of September. It will be a purely social run. No questions, no checkpoints and no cost. It will be run under the New VMCC rules which means a new signing on procedure and VMCC membership cards will need to be shown. Good weather has been requested from the appropriate authorities. Hope to see you there! P.S any updates will be posted here, on the main VMCC Website and the Section Facebook Page.

This event (as advertised on page 57 of the current Journal and page 40 of OBM) has had to be cancelled. It involved a ride in of all the North East area sections to Allendale and Thornton-le-Dale and was organised by Neil Lewis, the N.E Area rep. This is due to current Covid restrictions.

The sun is still shining and I'm going to see the see the sea at Seaham seafront on Friday at 3.00p.m. If anyone is free for a ride, or a drive, fancies and tea and a bun and a chat, why not come on down as well? How about meeting at the car park in the town, adjacent to the old cop shop?
